Morecambe for a day.

After leaving Edgar Street at around 9.15 am two minibuses full of Bulls fans made a three and a bit hour journey to the new Wembley to watch this years Conference Play-Off Final. The stadium is certainly impressive but somehow lacks the atmosphere of the old version and the rumours of expensive refreshments are well founded….I commend to you The Green Man in Dagmor Avenue just 500 yards from the stadium!

The first half saw Exeter take the lead when Bentley slipped to allow Challinor to cross for Phillips to head home however, it was Morecambe who bossed the half and could easily have gone in two goals up. As it was, their equaliser just before the break was at least some reward. The second half provided the opportunity for Exeter to take the ascendancy and, indeed, they had long periods of pressure without reward before Danny Carlton fired Morecambe into the League with a 20 yarder just eight minutes from the end.

Of the two ex Bulls on show, Craig Stanley was the one who impressed the most with his box-to-box performance and some nice distribution. Adam Stansfield simply did not get the sort of service that made him a regular scorer in his time at Edgar Street.

The gate of 40,043 included 50 to 60 Bulls fans along with Messrs Beckwith and Mawson.
