Ex-Bull Named In Bung Probe

Former Bulls midfielder Barry Silkman has been named as one of the 15 agents involved in 17 transfers that have not been 'signed off' by the Quest Report led by Lord Stevens.

Silkman played for the Bulls between 1974 and 1976, playing 28 times and scoring two goals and was a member of the 1975-6 Division Three championship side. After his professional career ended in 1986 he became a greyhound trainer and football agent.

His name crops up as part of a note regarding 'super-agent' Pini Zahavi who, the report notes, "has failed to co-operate fully with the Inquiry.

"There was an initial failure to disclose his involvement in a number of transfers but, more seriously, he has failed to provide the Inquiry with complete bank statements due to the confidential nature of them. There has also been a lack of responsiveness by Zahavi.

"There remain questions relating to his relationship with and payments to Barry Silkman (LA) and Barry Silkman's failure to initially disclose his involvement in all the transactions in which he received fees."

Silkman has denied all wrongdoing, telling the BBC: "It is an absolute total lie. A complete lie. Whoever he is, Lord Stevens, he is a liar. The people who have done this are liars.

"I co-operated 100%. I went to see them with my lawyer and showed them every single bank statement. They saw money coming into my account and money going out of my account."

The Report states that no illegal payments have been found but it has asked FIFA to further investigate a number of transfers involving Zahavi, including one which involved Silkman.
