News Round Up

Ex-Bull Stuart Watkiss is to continue as assistant manager at Grimsby after agreeing a new one year deal. The former Bulls defender took the role last summer, initially under Graham Rodger.

Rochdale have announced a number of signings as they raise their ambitions to get out of the division they haven't left in over 30 years. They have signed Bury full back Tom Kennedy, Bradford winger Ben Muirhead, defender Nathan D'Laryea from Man City, and striker Kallum Higginbotham from Oldham. Muirhead spent part of last season on loan at Spotland, while D'Laryea was on loan at Macclesfield.

Torquay have signed goalkeeper Simon Raynor on a two year deal. The Canadian was released by Lincoln at the end of the season after spending two months on loan at Plainmoor. Crawley fans have reacted badly to the appointment of Steve Evans as manager, with Trust spokesman Anthony Weller saying: "We have appointed a cheat. The owners are sticking two fingers up at us."

Things are not well at Northwich, with controversial chairman Mike Connett again seemingly incurring the wrath of supporters. Popular manager Steve Burr quit and has signed for Stalybridge although Connett, who Burr claims has interfered in team selection over Connett's goalkeeping son Ben, has refused the resignation and is trying to claim the club car back from Burr who has taken to hiding the vehicle away from his new workplace as he waits for unpaid wages to be settled.

Boston's prospective owners Standing Alone are believed to be pleased with the results of showdown talks with the various football bodies. However chief executive Barrie Pierpoint has told the Lincolnshire Echo that the takeover must take place this week to meet the necessary deadlines.

Bristol Rovers will have a reduced capacity at the Memorial Ground for their final few months at the stadium. The temporary green seated South Stand, that could be seen at Wimbledon during the summer, will not be returning to the ground for it's final few months of existence.
