Scarboro Demise Confirmed

Scarboro officially went out of business this morning, with debts of £2.5million.

The club, founded in 1879, was one of the oldest in the country but had struggled for years with debt problems. A club statement reads: "While it is sad to see the demise of a club with a proud history of 128 years, the club's finances have for a number of years been in a very poor state and the company has been in and out of various insolvency proceedings."

Rob Sadler, who is currently also working with Crawley, and Mike Saville of Begbies Traynor have been appointed as liquidators. A new club is expected to apply for the NCEL for the coming season, and will play away from the McCain Stadium until ownership issues have been resolved.
