Youth team compete in Welsh Tournament

Hereford United's Youth team are travelling to Aberystwyth for the Welsh Tournament which starts tomorrow. The event used to be known as the Ian Rush tournament.

The opening event which takes place today includes live music, a professional MC, fireworks display and entertainment for the players, supporters, coaching staff and their family members to enjoy.

The football starts tomorrow morning with the pool stages completed on the Wednesday, depending on where Hereford's team finish after the pool stages they will go on to one of three tournaments "The Welsh Super Cup, The Welsh Challenge Cup & The TTD Welsh Shield". Quarterfinals, semi finals and the finals of each of the events are then played on the Thursday and the Friday.

All teams remain in a competitive tournament for four out of the five days of football. As always the fixtures will be played on the outstanding playing fields at the University of Aberystwyth.

To round off the week there will be a farewell party on the Friday evening for teams to say their good byes to their new friends and to the old acquaintances from previous years.

On August 2nd the youth team have another visit to Wales when they play a friendly just over the border at Presteigne. And on August 9th a Hereford United XI, expected to be mainly youth players, have been invited to a friendly at Monmouth.
