Accrington chairman Eric Whalley has issued an open plea for local businesses to support the side. The club claim to be the cheapest to support in the league, but also have the smallest average attendance with Whalley telling the local press: "It is a fact that we have the lowest gates in the league, the poorest facilities and we are depending on income from other means, like sponsors and corporate hospitality to push things forward."

Crawley have released defender Ben Judge, the last of the managerial team from last season to be ousted from the club. David Woozley quit the club last week to become a fireman. Shrewsbury chairman Roland Wycherley has launched a scathing attack on the local council over claims that the councillors "bent over backwards" for the club. Wycherley details a string of hinderances the club has had from the council including withdrawal of funding for the new ground.
