Great to score two on debut - Trewick

John Trewick, the Hereford United coach, was well pleased with the debut of Sherjill MacDonald this afternoon.

"He'a an intelligent player," Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"He knows what he is doing. You just hope for a little bit of invention. He's got good pace, very quick.

"Great to score two on his debut and he linked very well with Gary Hooper."

Trewick also praised Simon Johnson who linked up well both with the two forwards and also Trent McClenahan who was behind him at right back.

"I thought Simon did very very well. He responded to the forward momentum. The two guys up front has got a little bit of pace and stretched players around them and Simon responded to that. He got in some good areas, kept the ball when we needed to and dropped back into those little areas where wide mid-field players have got to defend.

"So he can be very pleased with his performance."

On the game overall Trewick thought it was a good solid team performance.

"Disappointed to lose a goal from a set piece in the first half but 4-1 is a great victory for us."

Johnson was awarded a nine for his performance. Hooper, MacDonald. McCombe and McClenahan were given an eight each and the rest of the team received a seven.

Meanwhile full back John McCombe appeared to sustain a knee injury towards the end of the first half this afternoon. After treatment he carried on but looked to be in some discomfort.

Finally captain Karl Broadhurst had his nose broken in the game against Barnet a week last Wednesday. He joined Steve Guinan and Luke Webb on the injured list.
