Tom will never forget the Shrewsbury Game

Ten year old Tom Skittery from Much Marcle will always remember last Saturday's match at Shrewsbury because of an unfortunate incident before the kick-off.

Hereford United's two goalkeepers were warming up and Mike Ingham had kicked the ball towards Wayne Brown. Tom was sitting close to the goal when he was hit by the ball.

"Tom was knocked back against his seat, his nose was bleeding and he was as white as a sheet," said his father, James, as reported by the Malvern Gazette.

An alert Ingham realised what had happened and rushed to see if Tom was alright. His nose was bleeding and he was treated by the St John's Ambulance team.

Ingham told Tom he could have his gloves and Brown later promised him his shirt.

"We got back for the kick-off. Tom was dazed for the first half, but he got better," said his father.

After the game the two keepers went back to see Tom and presented him with the gloves and top.

"Tom will never forget it. He's written a letter to thank the players.

"He's been a season ticket holder for the last three seasons and he is a fanatical supporter."
