H&W Commentary For All Away Matches

BBC Hereford and Worcester are to provide live full match commentary for all of the Bulls' League One away matches this season, and have also confirmed coverage of the Carling Cup trip to Crystal Palace.

A press release reads:

Hereford United fans who can't travel to away matches will be able to stay in touch with their team's progress, thanks to BBC Hereford and Worcester.

The station will carry full match commentary on all of the Bulls' away League One matches this season

"We're delighted fans will be able to follow the matches live," said the station's editor James Coghill.

"Despite the current financial squeeze the club and ourselves were keen to make sure United fans don't miss out."

BBC Hereford and Worcester is grateful to the United board - and Graham Turner and Joan Fennessy in particular - for their co-operation in ensuring the station and the club could work together to bring fans what we know is a valued service.

Keith Hall will again front BBC Hereford and Worcester's commentary team, while the Bulls' legend Ricky George will be among the summarisers for matches.

The first two commentaries will be in London, with the opening league game being at Leyton Orient on Saturday 9 August, and then the Carling Cup first round tie against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park three days later.

James Coghill hopes the service will go down especially well with those Bulls fans for whom the credit crunch means travelling away is no longer an option.

"Not all Bulls fans will be able to make it to every away game this season, and it's promising to be an exciting season in League One.

"Every away game will be covered in full on 94.7FM," he added.

BBC Hereford and Worcester is well aware of the frustrations of those exiled supporters unable to hear the commentaries online, but points out that the station is not allowed to stream the commentaries as the BBC does not hold the internet broadcasting rights for Football League matches.
