Season Preview: Part Three

Millwall - 07/08 17th - Bookies 33/1 13th - Like Orient Millwall are a London club that work in the bargain bins of the transfer market to assemble a side of freebies. Kenny Jackett has changed a few faces but is still missing a star forward that will better their seven goal top scorer last season.

MK Dons - 07/08 1st(p) - Bookies 15/1 4th - The disillusioned Chelsea fans get another shot at League One football after falling through the division two seasons ago, but remain desperately short of players after replacing only two of eight departed players so far with more expected to leave. However it's a matter of things matching at Stadium:MK with the half finished squad joining the half-finished ground that is another victim of the credit crunch.

Northampton - 07/08 9th - Bookies 40/1 14th= - Boss Stuart Gray's summer rebuilding has seen misfit striker Leon Constantine replace last season's top scorer Poul Hubertz up front as the only experienced signing so far and little is thought of the side that is expected to go backwards this season.

Oldham - 07/08 8th - Bookies 20/1 10th= - It's not been Oldham's summer. They've demolished a stand for rebuilding only to lose two sponsors and now they've admitted being circled by vultures looking to pick off their talents. You have to wonder how secure their finances are, and whether they'll be the first League One side to incur a points deduction this season if things don't go their way early on.

Peterboro - 07/08 2nd(p) - Bookies 12/1 3rd - Lovely, lovely Peterborough. It's a great coastal town with a fantastic ski resort according to this brochure. The local mixed-gender boxing club and estate agents are a special treat and the locals, especially the flourishing Irish community, are delighted that Aaron McLean - under no pressure whatsoever - agreed a new deal with the club. Bright things, and unrestricted use of the golf course, are definitely in this clubs future.

Scunthorpe - 07/08 23rd(r) - Bookies 25/1 10th= - Selling your star striker for a million and replacing him with a half lame no hoper that scored a couple of goals for some tinpot lower league side last season isn't showing much ambition. The bookies expect them to bumble around halfway like a former Grays player in Southend's reserves before GT got the Brasso out.
