Young Bulls lose at Swindon

Hereford United's youngsters travelled to Swindon yesterday for the third match in the league cup.

They came up against a Robbins side in fine form and once again found the pace and power of wide man Lloyd Macklyn and frightening threat all game. Macklyn was ably supported by the excellent movement of Jamie Taylor. The home side scored their first goal in the third minute when a long diagonal ball saw Macklyn out run his marker to set up his strike partner.

The Bulls then had a great opportunity to level the scores when centre half Ashley Stubbs headed a Jak Lewis free kick wide of the target. However they did level the score when Lewis played in Chris Freddi to fire home in the 15th minute. The home side then went ahead again in the 19th minute when Macklyn left his marker Joel Edwards in a heap to supply another fatal cross. Two more goals in the 30th and 37th minute saw the home side in command. At the other end Tyler Weir hit the bar with across shot.

After the break the Bulls took the game to the Robbins and a fine goal by the excellent Freddi brought the score back to 4-2. The game became a much more even contest as both sides strived to find the goal that would decide the outcome of the game.

The Robbins found the killer touch and scored their fifth goal in the 71st minute. Then with ten minutes left the Robbins were given a 6th goal by the assistant referee when keeper Liam Brewer had clearly kicked a rebound shot in front of the line.

Final score 6-2 to the home side. A game which highlighted the Bulls ability to play and compete but also a frailty to be consistent for ninety minutes.
