Carlisle set off early for Herefordshire

Carlisle's loan signing Graham Kavanagh scored their third goal yesterday against Peterborough but having gone 3-1 ahead they couldn't hold onto the lead and the game was drawn.

Kavanagh, a former Cardiff City player before moving to Wigan and now with Sunderland United, thought that Carlisle were currently short of confidence.

He spoke about Tuesday's game at Edgar Street

"Hereford may be bottom of the division," said Kavanagh. "But we can't allow any complacency to creep in about that. It doesn't mean that just because they are bottom we are going to get our first win for a while, it just doesn't work like that.

"We're going down there on Monday, so we'll be able to get there and settle in ahead of the game, which I think is the right thing to do. That should mean that we'll be in full focus for Tuesday."

Meanwhile manager John Ward has also spoken about Tuesday's game.

"We have to dig deep again now for Tuesday, but if we reproduce that attitude and that type of performance at Hereford then we will be alright."

Ward was manager at Cheltenham when Steve Guinan was playing for them.

Finally Dean Whitestone will be the man in the middle for Tuesday evening's game. He last refereed a Hereford United game at Darlington last April when the Bulls won 1-0.

However he will be best remembered for being in charge of the Conference Play-off final at Leicester when Hereford United gained their promotion to League Two back in May 2006.
