Hereford United's young striker Bradley Hudson-Odoi was substituted just over half-way through the first half at Boundary Park yesterday but it appears there are different reasons being put forward why he left the pitch.
It was suggested to manager Graham Turner by Keith Hall for BBC Hereford and Worcester that Oldham's Chris Taylor and Daniel Jones were opening up the Bulls' defence.
"There were specific jobs to be done and we made a substitution. Jobs were not being done over there. We knew they were a threat. We knew they were two good players," commented Turner.
Meanwhile the Guardian's report said there was a problem with Hudson-Odoi's boots.
Hereford, who suffered the indignity of having to substitute Bradley Hudson-Odoi, apparently because his red boots tore and he had no back-up pair,
Whatever the reason the national press were critical of Hereford's performance. The Telegraph was particularily harsh.
To date, they have failed to secure a single point on their travels since claiming promotion from League Two. On this evidence, their manager, Graham Turner, may have an anxious wait to break that duck. Rooted at the bottom of the table, the credit crunch may abate before Hereford open their away account at this level but at least Turner, as club chairman and owner, will not have to fret about job security.
A week in football, similar to politics, is a long time. A win at Brighton for the Bulls next Saturday and the mood will change.
