Match Stats from Edgar Street

In an entertaining game at Edgar Street this afternoon visitors Walsall were deemed to have 53% of possession against 47% for Hereford United.

The Bulls had 4 shots on target and Walsall had three.

Most of the other stats were close with both teams giving away 11 fouls.

The gate was 3,900 with 994 from Walsall.

No Hereford player was booked and there was just one sub - Simon Johnson came on for Moses Ashikodi in the dying minutes of the game.

A word about the referee Scott Mathieson in a week where mistakes by referees have been highlighted.

Mathieson had a good game, kept close to the action, and tried to allow the game to flow. The only possible complaint Hereford might have was in the second half when it looked as a Walsall defender might have knocked the ball over the goal-line but despite an appeal by Andy Williams, Mathieson wasn't moved to give it. The linesman appeared to have a reasonable view of the incident.

Bradley Hudson-Odoi was the sponsor's man of the match but in truth this was a gritty Hereford United display and several players deserved to be in the running for man of the match.

Kris Taylor was given an eight for his hard work whilst central defenders Karl Broadhurst and Bruno N'Gotty were given a seven each along with Hudson-Odoi and Williams.
