Millwall have loaned winger Ryan Smith to Southampton for three months. The out of favour 22 year old is expected to complete a permanent deal in the new year. Crewe have sent youngster Colin Daniel on loan to Halifax for a month. Chester have halved admission prices for under 16's to £5 for the rest of the season, and will give all u-16 season ticket holders a free ticket next season as compensation.
Grimsby have been rebuffed in approaches as manager for Tony Cottee and Dave Bassett with both preferring to remain doing media work. The club have denied approaches for Steve Evans and Andy Ritchie but are continuing to interview candidates. Walsall are to give a trial to striker Geoff Horsfield after he proved his fitness, while former Saddlers trialist Stefan Moore is on trial at Kidderminster.
Hartlepool have loaned striker Richard Barker to Rotherham for three months. The deal is expected to be made permanent in the transfer window. Ex-Bull Matt Bailey is one of five players to be removed from the transfer list following Dino Maamria's removal as manager. Maamria's status is still up in the air pending a disciplinary meeting.
