Preview: Bulls vs Stockport

The Bulls host their second match in five days when Stockport are the visitors to Edgar Street on Saturday.

The away side has triumphed in each of the last five matches between the two sides. The Bulls opened their second chapter of League football with a surprise 2-0 win despite overwhelming pressure back in August 2006, but Stockport returned the scoreline the following February. Last season a Lionel Ainsworth hat-trick gave the Bulls three points at Edgeley Park, but a solitary Liam Dickinson strike gave the Hatters revenge at Edgar Street in March.

The Bulls, buoyed by a pair of clean sheets and a morale boosting win over Carlisle, will go into Saturday's game looking for the points to climb out of the relegation zone. Saturday's match will be Bruno N'Gotty's last unless his loan is extended, and three clean sheets in his five matches so far suggesting he would be more than welcome for an extended stay. Sam Gwynne became the 23rd player to feature for the Bulls this season, and his introduction has helped the disciplined defence.

The Hatters' mid-table start has been thanks to their away form rather than their prowess at home. Unbeaten on their travels in the League this season, they have suffered defeat on the road in both cups so far, but goalscoring is not their best attribute after offloading all three forwards that managed double figures last season. A last minute own goal gave them victory over MK Dons last night, but £100,000 summer striker Peter Thompson has managed only two goals so far this season.

Hereford United vs Stockport County, Edgar Street, Saturday 25th October, 3.00pm.
