Hooper keeps in touch with Bulls

Gary Hooper will line-up against several of his former colleagues when he leads the line for Scunthorpe against Hereford this afternoon. And he hasn't forgotten his time at Edgar Street.

"The 12 goals I scored for Hereford last season got me the move to Scunthorpe and I've settled in very well," said Hooper.

"When we played Hereford I had a chat with Graham Turner and I still speak to quite a lot of the players at the club and it is not easy watching them struggle."

Turner hasn't forgotten Hooper either and no doubt wishes he was still with the Bulls

"I still wake up screaming occasionally about the loss of Gary Hooper. Having agreed a fee with Southend, I thought it was almost cut and dried," said Turner.

"But unfortunately Gary was away and, by the time he had returned, there were a number of offers more than three times the amount we had agreed."

It looks as though Hereford's Karl Broadhurst and Josh Gowling will have to be at their best to keep Hooper in check this afternoon. The former Southend striker has scored 16 goals so far this season.

Meanwhile striker Steve Guinan was once a Scunthorpe player. It's now nearly ten years since he put on an Irons shirt. In a short time at the club he made three appearances and scored one goal.

Finally, and not for the first time, the press have suggested that Hereford is virtually in Wales. Talking about Turner's recent success in bring League One football to Edgar Street the Scunthorpe Telegraph says:

The former Aston Villa and Wolves boss has managed to secure two promotions in three years to bring League football back to the small market town club on the Welsh border.
