Both this weeks Hereford Journal and Hereford Times have covered a story about plans by Herefordshire Council to sell off farms it owns to cover the cost of building the new Livestock Market which will replace the exsisting one close to Edgar Street.
Opposition to the sale plans are being led by Councillor Terry James who, whilst leader of the council, opposed developers Chelverton who had suggested selling Hereford United's ground.
It is thought the Council is having difficulties in raising the £10M required to build the livestock market and therefore needs to raise funds from asset sales.
Whilst not confirmed, the delay in finalising funds for the new market could mean its move from the center of Hereford may be delayed with a knock-on effect on any redevelopment timescale.
