Turner welcomes Leeds

Hereford United manager Graham Turner has spoken to the Yorkshire Evening Post about the visit of Leeds United to Edgar Street on Saturday.

"For us to be playing at the same level as Leeds is fantastic for our supporters, who will have to pinch themselves to see us entertaining them in the league.

"But from a professional point of view, it's just another game with three points at stake. Where we are in the league, every game is vital to us.

"While the game has got a certain attraction, it's not massively important compared to the rest.

"Despite our position, we feel we're playing reasonably well, without getting the points return that I think we've deserved. But we have that belief sooner or later that it's going to turn for us."

According to the paper a sell-out would imply an attendance of 7,100. Leeds are expected to bring just short of 2,000 supporters to the game.

"It will be a good turn-out, no doubt our biggest gate of the season," Turner continued.

"Whether it will be a sell-out remains to be seen, but it will be a good atmosphere.

"We are pleased to welcome Leeds, although there is that little bit of apprehension with the reputation (of the fans) over a number of years. But that seems to have gone now.

"The crowds Leeds get are amazing. I think it's incredible that a crowd of nearly 35,000 can be achieved by a League One club.

"When I was at Wolves – they were a league lower, I know that – gates were down to two and three thousand.

"Wolves in the 60s and early 70s were a massive club and that's how low gates had dropped and yet Leeds have maintained a fantastic support."
