Weymouth need around £400,000 to survive the season. Last night's 'do-or-die' meeting revealed that they owe the taxman £96,000, and players £38,000. Current debts are around £250,000 and the club expects to lose another £150,000 by the end of the season. Chester boss Stephen Vaughan has said he will stump up the money to get their transfer embargo lifted, and that the club will not fall into Administration this season. He expects the embargo to be lifted next week, and aims to give boss Mark Wright three loan signings.
Leeds CEO Shaun Harvey has blamed Sky coverage for Jermaine Beckford's suspension: "Jermaine Beckford has pleaded guilty and we feel certain if the match had not been shown live on Sky and not received a massive amount of publicity thereafter the caution issued by the referee would have been the end of the matter." It was the fifth time this season Leeds had been covered live, earning the club over £500,000 in revenue.
Northwich hope to be back in their stadium next week, but will not be owners until Jim Rushe secures the loan required to buy it. Former club owner Mike Connett remains the keyholder at the stadium despite his company being bankrupt, and Connett faces personal bankruptcy next week over a £200,000 tax bill. He is expected to be forced to hand the keys to the liquidators.
Tranmere have cancelled the contract of midfielder George O'Callaghan by mutual consent. The former Cork man signed a two year deal in the summer but has not seen first team action since October. Their deal to sell Christie Park to Sainsburys is believed to have helped.
