Preview: Carlisle vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to Brunton Park on Tuesday night for a League One match against Carlisle United.

The Bulls will be chasing their first double of the season to wipe out the taste of two straight defeats. In mid-October the Bulls, in front of the lowest League One crowd of the season so far, beat the Cumbrians thanks to Andy Williams only goal of the season so far. Both Josh Gowling and Jennison Myrie-Williams were subs for Carlisle that night and are expected to line up for the Bulls on Tuesday.

Since Carlisle dispensed with the services of John Ward they have pulled themselves clear of the drop zone, but one point from the last nine have given them renewed fears with just six points keeping them safe. Their home form is considerably better than their away exploits, scoring an average of nearly two a game at home. Striker Danny Graham is top scorer with 16 goals and should remain at the club for the match, despite strong transfer interest, now winger Simon Hackney has been sold to balance the books.

The Bulls travel north hoping for at least one reinforcement to the small band of players that has battled through January, and the change of scenery in taking in a Premier League training ground on the way up may help. Taking youngsters, the injured, and the 'missing' from the picture, there may be just eighteen names in contention for the trip - severely limiting the amount of changes hinted at by Graham Turner after Saturday's capitulation. The squad has shrunk dramatically since New Years Eve, with seven departing from loans and short term deals and only two arriving.
