A report on local ITV station HTV's nightly news programme suggests that Russell Slade is close to ending his reign as Yeovil manager.
The news report claims Slade has called in the League Managers Association to mediate after his relationship with the club's board broke down. The club refused to comment to the programme and Slade himself gave no indication either way, merely using the often quoted 'I'm here until told otherwise' stance.
Slade took the club to the League One play-offs in his first season at the club, but then saw his budget cut and missed relegation by only four points last season. Another axe was taken to the budget last summer, and Slade has lost a number of potential new faces due to the financial constraints placed on him. Average gates this season have dropped by 1,100, while their average since the turn of the year has seen another 500 disappear, and Slade has had to rely on the charity of higher graded sides to bolster his squad recently.
