Hartlepool boss Chris Turner wants his side to reach 50 points to be safe from relegation.
The Pools are currently on 43 points, ten clear of the drop zone with Turner saying: ''We've targeted 50 points, it's psychological as much as anything and the quicker we can get to that, the more games we can play with the confidence that comes from that security.''
But is he right?
Last season Crewe earned 50 points, but only escaped relegation due to Bournemouth's Administration costing them ten points. The season before Leyton Orient avoided relegation on 51 points, while in 2005/6 both MK Dons and Hartlepool themselves went down on 50 points.
Excluding points deductions, seven sides would have been relegated with fifty points or more over the last ten years. In those ten years, 52 points would guarantee safety - 22 points for the Bulls from the last 15 matches.
In the last 15 matches the Bulls have earned 18 points, but 13 of those points have come in the last eight games. If that current form is maintained, the Bulls would hit 54 points.
