Gowling pulls up in training

Hereford United's central defender Josh Gowling pulled up in training yesterday. He had been out for several weeks after picking up an ankle injury in the game against Cheltenham, but it was hoped he might be fit enough to be considered for the game against Southend tomorrow but this is now unlikely.

Meanwhile manager Graham Turner has been talking about the game.

“Before we lost two matches this week we had been on a good run — we are capable of doing that again,” said Turner as reported by the Worcester News.

“Confidence is a little fragile at the moment and against Bristol Rovers we were poor defensively — but I don’t believe there is any point in hammering the players.

“They know we need to perform better than we did at Crewe and against Bristol.

“What we have to do is lift their spirits — not kick them when they are down.”

Turner is well aware that Southend are on a good run and will have former Bulls' striker Theo Robinson in their side.

“They are on a good run,” Turner said. “They beat Brighton on Tuesday night which did us a little favour.

“We all know about Theo. He is very quick and capable of scoring goals.”

“We are in difficult times at the moment and we are under pressure, but there are a lot of teams in the same situation as us.”
