Thordarson Sees 'Massive' Game

Crewe boss Gudjon Thordason has told their official site that Saturday's match with the Bulls is 'massive':

"Saturday has become a massive game because they are right in there with us. My concern for the Carlisle game was that everyone would ease off and think it would be enough to just put their boots on and get out there. They were very wrong if anybody thought that.

"The Hereford game has become very important for us now, Dennis (Lawrence) and Popey (Tom Pope) will not be fit for that, so I have to see if I can come up with something else with what we have but only the next couple of days will tell me what."

Defender Lawrence fractured a cheekbone last Tuesday and will miss at least a month, while leading scorer Pope has missed the last two matches. The former trainee is likely to miss another two weeks but is top scorer despite the club spending heavily on forwards in the summer. Clayton Donaldson, Anthony Elding, Joel Grant, and Calvin Zola cost the club close to half a million in the summer, but have returned just 13 League goals.
