Defender Josh Gowling, who made an impact whilst on loan at Edgar Street last season, is to talk to Greg Abbot, his manager at Carlisle.
"We're due to talk with Josh at some point in the next week or so to see what the situation is," Abbot told the Carlisle OS.
"Obviously he is due to come back for pre-season, but I think we need to have had a face-to-face talk so that we know where we stand. Definitely the next plan of attack with Josh is to meet him and see what his plans are.
"Josh is still one of our players, and every player at this club has a role to play while they are here. Next season is a new season, and as far as I am concerned it's a level playing field for all of the players in the squad. It's down to what they do in pre-season as to who starts the first game, and that's no different for Josh Gowling.
"Obviously Hereford had a difficult season, but the reports we have had back are that he has done alright. Mind you, we can't be too bothered about what he has done there because it is now down to what he does with us. He comes back with the rest of the lads and if he has a go at pre-season and performs better than the others, then he stands a chance of getting into our team."
