With strong rumours that former Hereford United defender Ryan Green has spoken to John Trewick about a possible return to Edgar Street, we look back to the time when he originally joined the club.
It was on 31st July 2003 that it was confirmed that Ryan Green had signed for Hereford United. The news broke after a friendly against Birmingham City at Edgar Street in which Green played.
Ryan Green has signed a two year contract with the Bulls.
The ex-Wolves & Sheffield Wednesday full-back has been capped three times for Wales, and is indeed the youngest player to feature for the principality reported www.hu-fc.co.uk
A couple of days later the same site published an article about Green joining the Bulls.
Location has helped
For once the location of Edgar Street has helped in the signing of a player!
Often thought by some as 'in the sticks', Hereford is within easy reach of the home of new full-back Ryan Green, who has Welsh international honours and lives in the capital.
Graham Turner has been speaking to BBC Hereford & Worcester on the events around the signing. "He has moved back down to Cardiff and he asked his agent to phone to see if we would be interested and that's how it came about," said Turner. "It's only an hour into Cardiff so he commutes quite comfortably and he wants to settle. I think it has worked to our advantage, the fact that he has thought about us and wants to come and play for us."
Green was signed as a replacement for Matt Clarke, who switched to Telford United in May 2003.
His first league game was at Tamworth on August 9th. The Bulls won 3-1 and went straight to the top of the Conference.
