The club have released the following statement regarding the re-development of the Blackfriars Terrace. The following comes from the Official Hereford United website, www.herefordunited.co.uk.
Talks are continuing with all parties involved in the redevelopment of football facilities in the Blackfriars End of the ground and whilst good progress is being made there has been one setback which has forced us into a major change to our plans.
Originally the Club were led to believe that a grant from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund was available for a 2000 capacity covered standing terrace.
Through no fault of the Clubs we have now been informed that it is not the policy of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund to provide grants for standing areas.
Hereford United are disappointed with this view because we believe that there is a large number of supporters who prefer to stand especially behind goals, however we understand the Football Stadia Improvement Fund’s policy over safety issues.
The Club have therefore had to reconsider the plans and a 1,500 capacity all seated stand with disabled facilities, canteens and toilets will be developed.
The target set for all concerned is to complete the project before the end of the coming season.
