Burton have snatched Kettering defender Guy Branston from under the noses of Torquay on a two year deal. The 30 year old is their fourth central defender and will challenge for a place with ex-Bull Tony James. Rotherham are set for a £200,000 windfall after ex-defender Shaun Barker moved from Blackpool to Derby for a reported £900,000. They have turned down a £200,000 offer from MK Dons for striker Reuben Reid.

Cambridge have agreed a compensation payoff with departed manager Gary Brabin. Assistant boss Paul Carden is mulling over his future after being told he still has a job, but may prefer to follow his mate out of the club. Tamika Mkandawire is claimed to be the subject of a bid from Millwall. Sky Sports say the Lions want him to replace transfer listed defender Zak Whitbread.

Notts County have lodged a £50,000 bid for Chesterfield striker Jack Lester. The 33 year old signed a new contract in June, with the Spireites calling the bid derisory.
