Crewe could receive upto £1M from Liverpool for youngster Max Clayton after Director of Football Dario Gradi claimed they had tried to 'steal' the 15 year old.
Bulls News reported earlier today that Gradi has suggested he might complain to the FA about the unofficial approach for an academy player.
"The big clubs are stealing other people's players and you worry financially for the clubs the players are stolen from," said Gradi as reported by the Mirror.
"What sort of compensation are we going to get for all the work that has gone into developing him? Any compensation is insignificant for the effort that's gone in."
Liverpool, wary of the recent Chelsea and Manchester United problems over tapping up young players, are expected to offer Crewe a deal for Clayton.
It could amount to around £1M depending on Clayton's progress.
