Concentration the key – Darren Jones

Speaking after yesterday's defeat of relegation threatened Darlington, Man of the Match and Bulls centre back Darren Jones (library picture) commented that it was a deserved but hard fought three points.

"We controlled the game for all but the closing period.

"Late in the game we dropped too deep and allowed them back into the game.

"We got into some good positions out wide and failed to deliver the ball into the danger area. Sometimes, when we’ve done the hard work of getting to an advanced position we have to take a chance and get the ball in early. When you're not under pressure it's fine to check and take a look at your options but when there’s no time you need to whip it in...if the strikers aren't on the end of it, it's not the fault of the wide players.

"There are a lot of good players at this Club and many are capable of playing well at this level and higher...it's all about concentration. The difference between the top half of the Conference and the lower reaches of the Football League is simply that in a few teams you see a better class of wide players and strikers...players that occasionally do the unexpected. If we keep our concentration at the back and do the basics we can keep the clean sheets that The Gaffer wants."
