The BBC's Football League show last night reported that Cheltenham boss Martin Allen is to be sacked in the next few days.
Allen, on 'gardening leave' since allegations of racial abuse outside a nightclub were raised two weeks ago, presided over just one win in eleven games before being suspended - and the side has failed to win either of their two games since to plunge them deep into the relegation mire.
Chairman Paul Baker told the press on Friday that no decision would be made before next week's FA Cup match, but his hand may be forced by financial pressures to win the match and claim the prize money with gates down nearly 20% on last season. Yesterday's attendance was their worst of the season so far, and down more than 1,000 on the attendances at Whaddon Road prior to Allen's appointment.
