Cup Hero Evans to Play for Grimsby

Ludlow born FA Cup hero Sean Evans is set to play for Grimsby this evening in a reserve game.

Evans is back on trial with the Mariners and the 22 year old could leave Stourbridge for nothing should the League Two club think he is worth signing.

"Sean isn’t under contract but even if he was clubs like Grimsby aren’t going to pay any fee," Stourbridge manager Gary Hackett told the Express and Star.

"They haven’t got the money, but we might get a sell-on clause.

"The lad has been very good for us and we have been very good to him. We have got his career back on track and he’s done very well.

"Hereford have enquired about him but Grimsby were the first club to make a definite play, so he’s given them first option."

Update 10pm: According to Grimsby, Evans played all 90 minutes of the game and was said to have 'impressed'.
