Bulls like to play football notes Sampson

Northampton Town manager Ian Sampson has said that his side badly needs to take three points from this evening's fixture with Hereford United.

"We need to start picking up some points and moving up the league table," he said.

"We are looking forward to the game and being at home it's an ideal opportunity for us to try and get the three points.

"The league is still very tight but we need to get on a run and our immediate aim is still just to try and get into the top half of the table.

"Hereford are on a decent run at the minute and I think they were a bit unfortunate to go out of the cup against Colchester on Saturday.

"They've got some decent players and I'm sure Leon Constantine will be out to prove a point to his former club. We will need to nullify him like we would any opposition player.

"John Trewick was a good footballer so we know that Hereford like to get the ball down and play and I think most teams in this league now try and play a bit of football."

Kenny Lunt is rated unlikely to feature this evening. He is reported by the Worcester News to have a virus. Edrissa Sonko however is fit again after his illness and may take his place alongside Birmingham youngster Jordon Mutch.

Meanwhile Cheltenham Town must be looking out for some bargains. Their club captain, Shane Duff, who is currently injured, will be at the game on scouting duty.
