The Bulls take a break from League action to face MK Dons in the Johnstones Paint Trophy on Tuesday evening.
The two sides have met in each of the last three seasons in League action, but it will be the first cup meeting since the former Wimbledon was uprooted from it's Merton home. In those three seasons the Bulls have failed to score in any of the games at Edgar Street, losing two of them to goals in the last five minutes. Their only victory in all six games was the first meeting, when Martin Allen's MK Dons side was surprisingly beaten 3-1 at the National Hockey Stadium.
The Bulls have made the decision to start the game at 7pm and, unlike previous rounds, full adult admission will be charged. It's an unusual decision to revert to full price with two home games in four days at this time of year and, coupled with recent performances where the Bulls have managed just four shots on target across two games, it is likely to have a negative effect on the attendance. On the field a bit of stability may be needed, but it was changing the side that saw the Bulls win at Leyton Orient in the last round. Gavin McCallum, who made his first start in that game, will be looking for a recall with the Bulls misfiring up front.
Now in their sixth season, the Dons won the competition in 07/08 with a win over Grimsby in a rare all League Two final at Wembley. Usually Paul Ince's sides are tight at the back, but they have shipped 20 goals in their last seven games and despite sitting in the League One play-off zone they have a negative goal difference. At the other end of the pitch former Welsh international striker Jermaine Easter has 13 goals this season while Sam Baldock, who has started only eight games this term, has seven. One familiar face in the MK Dons squad is former Bulls loanee Stephen Gleeson. The former Wolves man sealed a permanent summer move to Stadium:MK in the summer after another loan spell, and has been a regular since.
