Chester Fans Call Boycott

After a ballot of their 500 members, the main Chester fans group have called for a boycott of the club's matches.

While the boycott was pretty much in place already, resulting in a club record low gate on Tuesday night, City Fans United have called for an official boycott of their home games until the club 'has been placed into local reputable ownership'.

Just 5% of fans voted against a boycott, with 99.5% believing a change of ownership was essential. 98% of respondents would also back a new 'phoenix' club if the current side was forced to fold.

Chester fans held a boycott during the Terry Smith era that saw the club engage in American Football style training overseen by Smith himself, but gates didn't plunge as far as they have already under Vaughan family control.

Meanwhile the Conference were forced to postpone an EGM to discuss Chester's situation after the 'senior, decision-making officers' of the club failed to attend the meeting. A Conference official told the Chester Chronicle that a single representative was sent from the club, but he was not able to meet the criteria.
