Paul Downing is an 18 year-old, 6’ 1”, Taunton born central defender who can also play as a holding midfielder. The Official WBA site says he possesses great awareness, senses danger and sees things early. He made an appearance on the first team bench for the 2008/09 late season Premiership match against Blackburn at Ewood Park. He was, at one time, reportedly being tracked by both Manchester City and Aston Villa.
Lateef Elford-Alliyu is a 5’ 8”, 17 year-old striker who was part of the West Brom squad that traveled to Peterborough for the 07/08 FA Cup match when he was just 15 years old. He is reportedly, quick, technically very good, knows how to use his body and has good movement. He was one of the scorers in last weeks friendly at West Brom. He featured twice in England’s U17 team in the European Championships in Germany.

He said the move of the two youngsters to Edgar Street was 'really pleasing news.'
"They have proved they can cut it in the youth team and have a fair number of reserve games under their belts.
"There is now a real chance for them to learn the game at the sharp end where it's win at all costs.
"I'm sure the next month will be a great learning curve for them."
Manager Roberto Di Matteo also commented about the two youngsters.
"Hereford wanted them on loan so let’s see how they deal with the physical battles that they will find themselves in every week, playing for points, playing in front of people."
