News Round Up

Notts County have been handed a transfer embargo by the Football League after being hit with a second winding up order from the taxman. After they averted one order in December, the second comes for a further £500,000 in unpaid tax. Owner Peter Trembling says they intend to have funds in place to clear all debts by the 15th, with the court date set for the 27th. Mansfield boss David Holdsworth has denied he is in the frame for the Notts County job.

Rochdale are reported to have turned down a £300,000 bid from Scunthorpe for defender Craig Dawson, barely six months after they signed the player from non-league Radcliffe Boro for a nominal fee. Ex-Bull Stephen O'Leary has signed a further one month deal at Bradford in an effort to prove his fitness to the club.

Lincoln have denied reports that up to four of their young players are set to join Fulham, after press reports suggested the Premier League side had offered £200,000 for keeper Rob Burch while defenders Moses Swaibu and Cian Hughton, plus forward Nathan Adams were also linked to moves. York's preparations for their FA Cup match at Stoke at the weekend are to be investigated by the FA after they were stuck in traffic until five minutes after the scheduled kick off. The club opted not to spend £2,000 on an overnight stay despite earning £150,000 from their cup run.

Cheltenham are expected to sign Peterboro defender Daniel Andrew on loan. He has been at Kidderminster under similar terms. Chester's new management may not be happening after all. Chief Executive Bob Gray has denied resigning, while the local press reports that Morrell Maison failed to turn up at the club yesterday after a dispute over expenses. Unconfirmed reports also say the players have been told to stay at home and look for other clubs with Maison running a football academy that will provide a team to play.

Northampton have signed Irish striker Stephen O'Flynn from Limerick until the end of the season. He scored 14 times in 13 games for Limerick in the last Irish season. The Cobblers have also taken central defender Luke Wilkinson on a month's loan from Portsmouth.
