Preview Port Vale vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to Port Vale on Saturday for a League Two match.

The two sides met earlier this season, at Edgar Street, sharing a 2-2 draw with Marc Pugh and Tristan Plummer scoring the Bulls' goals. This is the first season the pair have met in League action for 24 years, although the Bulls have won in cup matches in both 2005 and 2006. The December 2006 FA Cup meeting at Edgar Street saw Rob Purdie score twice as the Bulls romped to a 4-0 win over a Valiants side that contained Leon Constantine.

Port Vale have proven themselves to be difficult to beat, but have found it as hard to win. They have drawn thirteen of their 25 League matches so far this term and sit 13th in the table, six points short of the play-offs. They have confirmed today the signing of forward Lewis Haldane on a permanent deal until the end of the season after he agreed his release from Bristol Rovers, but Saturday's game suggests it will not be a goal fest with the Valiants drawing their last two games 0-0 and averaging barely a goal scored every match so far this term.

The Bulls will hope to feature at least two new signings at Vale Park. New arrivals Paul Downing and Lateef Elford-Alliyu are yet to make senior appearances for any side but are highly thought of at West Brom. The Bulls will be looking for better fortunes on the road after losing three straight away trips following their only away victory of the League season at Northampton.

Port Vale vs Hereford United, Vale Park, Saturday 30th January, 3.00pm.
