Southend have been given another week to pay the £400,000 they owe to the taxman.
Their court hearing today was adjourned from the morning until the afternoon, where their 'last chance' to pay was shifted again. They assured the court that the money - which they had previously disputed owing - was being transferred to the taxman and the process would be completed inside 24 hours.
They have now been given seven days to meet the payment. Reports from the courts suggest that it is Sainsburys, who are involved in the development of their new ground, who are covering the debt.
The club still owe their players wages from March after paying the previous three months late, and are five points inside the League One relegation zone with just four games left to play.
