Stevenage will confirm their promotion to the Football League with a win on Saturday after beating Altrincham 1-0 tonight.
It took them 83 minutes to break down the part-timers, with ex-Bull Tim Sills starting the match, but the win now means a win over Kidderminster at Aggborough on Saturday will send Stevenage up into the Football League for the first time.
They have already narrowly missed out on promotion on a number of occasions. They won the Conference in 1996, only for their Broadhall Way ground to fail League criteria, and lost out to Carlisle in the 2005 play-off final before dipping out at the first stage of last season's play-offs.
