Harvey settles with FGR

Former Hereford United player Jimmy Harvey has settled his depute with Forest Green Rovers.

Here's part of a statement that has appeared on the Forest Green Rovers website:

An Employment Tribunal claim for Unfair Dismissal and Breach of Contract brought by Jim Harvey (former Manager) against Forest Green Rovers Football Club (the “Club) has been settled ahead of the tribunal listed for hearing on 17th and 18th May 2010.

The claim related to the dismissal of Mr Harvey prior to the commencement of the 2009/2010 season.

The Club, without admission of liability, has agreed a settlement with Mr Harvey. The settlement includes payment to Mr Harvey of compensation, the issue of this joint press release and an agreed reference.

Both parties regret the events of last summer, especially given the Club’s recent relegation from the Blue Square Premier League, and the Club regrets any unintentional damage to Mr Harvey’s reputation as a result of his dismissal.

The Club, in issuing this joint statement, wish Mr Harvey and his family the best for the future and thank him for his contribution to the Club. The Club wishes to place on public record its thanks to Mr Harvey for the style of attractive football he brought to match days at the New Lawn.

Mr Harvey commented, “I am pleased that this matter is now resolved. I would like to thank the supporters and those players who played under me. I enjoyed my time at the Club and will take away fond memories of the Club’s highest ever finish and two significant FA Cup runs. I was disappointed that the Club was relegated this year and I wish them a speedy return to the top flight of non-league football”.
