News Round Up

Brisrol Rovers have quietly released midfielder David Pipe, with him admitting to a wounding charge with intent to cause grevious bodily harm at Bristol Crown Court. He was arrested and charged after a fight in December that saw another man suffer a fractured skull. He will be sentenced in mid-June. Cheltenham have said that they would like to sign the player but were waiting until his trial, while the local press say they have offered another ex-Pirate, Aaron Lescott, a deal.

Barnet say they have a five man shortlist for their managerial job. They have delayed releasing their retained list for the new man to make the final decisions. Port Vale are said to have agreed a two year contract with Bristol Rovers striker Sean Rigg after two loan spells at the club. Peterboro have confirmed they have offered a contract to Shrewsbury striker Dave Hibbert.

Ex-Bull Alan Connell has been told he can speak to other clubs by Bournemouth as they will not offer him a new contract unless they sell Brett Pitman. The 27 year old scored eight goals in 23 starts and 19 sub appearances and was their second top scorer behind Pitman.

Preston have been hit with a winding up order from the taxman for a debt the club says is only 20 days overdue. The court date for an undisclosed amount comes only a day after they had to borrow £550,000 to meet the months wage bill. They borrowed the money from leading shareholder Trevor Hemmings, who is now owed nearly £14million.
