News Round Up

Andy Williams says the opportunity of regular first team football made him choose Yeovil over Bristol Rovers, telling the Evening Post: "Rovers could only offer me a one-year extension and a wage reduction, which obviously wasn't ideal. If I stayed there then I think I would have been in the same situation I was last season, which would have been starting most of the games on the bench. I'm nearly 24 and I need to be playing a bit more regularly." As the Pirates offered him a wage reduction, there was no fee involved in the move.

Shrewsbury will join Accrington in the South West Challenge this summer. Also in the 12 team tournament are Doncaster, Leyton Orient, and Kilmarnock. Crewe have not made a move for Peterboro defender Exodus Geoghaghon, with the defender saying the Posh are expecting a fee. Kidderminster have expressed an interest in signing him.

Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has told new boss Andy Hessenthaler he wants nothing but promotion back to League One at the first attempt, telling the BBC: "He buys into the package that anything less than promotion is failure." Chesterfield have signed released Walsall midfielder Dwayne Mattis on a two year deal. He made his name at Bury before a £50,000 move to the Championship with Barnsley.

Ex-Bull Marcus Browning has been released by Bath City following their promotion to the Conference top flight. Salisbury have confirmed they are to appeal the Conference's decision to kick them out of the competition. They have also confirmed that they have cleared all debts in full as per the competition requirements, albeit two weeks after the deadline set.

Shrewsbury have announced their ground will be known as the Greenhous Meadow next season after an 'overwhelming' win in a fans vote. The club have given no breakdown on the actual voting. Cheltenham have been snubbed by former loanee Medy Elito, who has opted to stay at Colchester and fight for a place there.

The Conference are introducing a rule for next season forcing clubs who only offer seating to visiting supporters to charge them the cheapest admission price in the ground.
