Davey To Be Bulls Boss?

Darlington paper the Evening Gazette is reporting that Quakers boss Simon Davey is to become the new Bulls manager.

Davey is reported to be in the US on a coaching scheme, with Quakers managing director Graham Fordy telling the paper: "Simon is due back this weekend, and just before he left 10 days ago he signed an agreement for training headquarters, and is waiting for replies from three players who we want to sign.

"Simon has a year’s contract with us, but either party can give a period of notice, so he’s not tied down for 12 months."

Davey joined the Quakers in April, winning three of the remain ten games of their already doomed season, and was reported to have applied for the Edgar Street job that was vacated three weeks previous prior to Graham Turner announcing that no appointment would be made until the end of the season.

The Swansea born man cut his playing career short at 27, but played over 250 times as a goalscoring midfielder with the likes of Preston, where he played alongside the on-loan David Beckham, and Carlisle. He later coached the youth sides at both Preston and Barnsley before getting the top job at Oakwell after a caretaker spell.

He kept the Tykes in the Championship on one of the smaller budgets for three seasons before being sacked just five games into the 2009/10 season.
