Davey justifies new signings

Hereford United manager Simon Davey has said that he needed to increase the numbers in his squad as three of the players are long term prospects and unlikely to feature often this season.

Earlier this week he signed Amadou Rabihou and Dominik Werling which puts the number up to 23. However this figure doesn't include either the goalkeeping coach and sports scientist at Edgar Street, both of whom could play in goal for the Bulls if the need arose.

Speaking to BBC Hereford and Worcester Davey mentioned the three youngsters.

"We've got Aidan, a striker, who is injured," said Davey.

"We've got Zac who is a young lad and Sam Kanoute who is young and one for the future.

"So you look at them and you're thinking are they ready made, are they going to play 46 games for us and the answer to that is no."

Davey is awaiting international clearance for Rabihou. It's hoped it will arrive today.

Meanwhile striker Mathieu Manset is expected to be able to play some part in tomorrow's game if selected. He has been suffering with a handstring injury.

UPDATE Midday: It now looks unlikely that Manset will be fit enough to play any part in tomorrow's game.
