Russon Backs Davey

Hereford United vice-chairman Tim Russon has said that he is backing under-seige manager Simon Davey.

Russon has also told BBC Hereford and Worcester that discussions are to take place at the club this afternoon with senior players.

"This afternoon myself and the chairman will be sitting down with senior professionals, talking to them, to seek their opinions," said Russon.

"I know the players have talked amongst themselves at a meeting.

"We've had lots of heart to hearts with the manager. That's our job, that's what we should be doing."

Russon has also given an interview to Bulls Player where, in essence, he asks the fans to stick together and help the club get through this difficult time.

"It's fair to say that like everyone who cares and loves Hereford United we're deeply disappointed with the start and we're very concerned with where we are in the league," he said.

"The board are always listening to the fans, we monitor what the fans think and want, they're the supporters and it's their club.

"What we've got to do is be careful not to rush in and do anything too hasty. We've got to keep in mind that in the summer there was a huge rebuilding job, lots of new players in, change of board, management, change of everything really.

"Having said that, we said right from the word go that we want to take Hereford forward and that's our pledge, anybody in their right mind understands that there comes a time when whatever has to be done will be done.

"The key thing for us to do now is to look at the problem, to listen to the manager, the coaches, we're meeting the players, we'll sit down with the senior pros and talk it through with them."
