Pitman - It's a Banana Skin Tie

Hereford United supporters have memories of FA Cup-ties which haven't always gone according to plan. A particular game against a team across the water was one. And tomorrow's game against Hythe Town could be another if the Bulls are too confident.

However care-taker manager Jamie Pitman is well aware of what can happen and is taking this match very seriously.

"It’s a banana skin," Pitman told the Worcester News.

"But enough of us have played in these games so we need to make sure we do things properly. If we don’t, it’s going to become difficult.

"On the day, Hythe will give everything they have. We need to make sure we nullify that as early as possible and do what we need to do.

"We are going to do our jobs and worry about what we do. If that’s the case, we should win the game. We are not going to take it lightly."

Meanwhile Hythe manager Scott Porter is as optimistic as ever.

"We believe we can get at least a draw and take them back to our place for a replay," he told the Kent News.

"We have to enjoy what has happened and soak it up, but we're not going to go there and roll over. As soon as we get in the changing room it will be serious, although I don't think we will need a lot to get us going.

"We might need to have a bit of luck and need them to have an off-day, but we've got to make sure we're in the game, not concede in the first 20 minutes and build from there. The confidence around the place is fantastic, we just can't wait to get on with it."
