Accrington have extended the loan of Oldham defender Joe Jacobson until the end of the month pending further negotiations. They have failed to extended the loan of Fleetwood midfielder Ian Craney as the player has failed to agree a pay-off with the Conference side and they are not prepared to further subsidise a loan deal.

Port Vale boss Jim Gannon plans to bring in a striker and midfielder during the transfer window. Twelve Vale fans were arrested at their match with Burnley at the weekend, mostly due to being drunk. Shrewsbury have opted not to extend the loan of Bolton forward Tope Obadeyi after signing James Collins from Aston Villa.

Stockport caretaker boss Peter Ward has hinted he may link up with Jim Gannon at Port Vale after his side crashed 5-1 at home to Gillingham. Barnet have released midfielder Craig Dobson, and ended the loan of veteran Luton striker Kevin Gallen as Paul Fairclough continues to trim the squad. Norwich loan defender George Francomb is wanted by the Bees but the Canaries are expected to recall him.

Lincoln have four French trialists in training today with Steve Tilson looking for new faces in the transfer window. Bristol Rovers have a three man shortlist for their managerial vacancy with both Dave Penney and Geraint Williams confirmed on the list. Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has reportedly been offered the job at Crystal Palace, although local press say Rochdale's Keith Hill is favourite for the job.

Newport have pulled out of a deal to bring former Bulls loanee Ade Akinbiyi to the club. The veteran striker 'didn't tick all of the boxes' for manager Dean Holdsworth. Stockport board member Lord Peter Snape says Paul Simpson was sacked as he couldn't work with club stalwarts Peter Ward and Alan Lord. Snape adds that they wanted Jim Gannon as manager and had to appoint Simpson 'in a bit of a hurry' when Gannon rejected the move.
