Preview: Wycombe vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to Wycombe on Tuesday night for a Third Round FA Cup match.

The two sides only met on Boxing Day, with the home side happy to escape with a 2-1 win. A late Ben Strevens goal seperated the League Two bottom side and the promotion candidates, with Chairboys boss Gary Waddock admitting his side were lucky to claim all three points. It will be the first FA Cup meeting between the two sides with the previous seven meetings all coming in the bottom flight. The Bulls have draw two, and lost two, at Adams Park claiming their only victory at Edgar Street in 2008.

Gary Waddock has already said he will not be making further moves in the transfer market in January, but since the Bulls' last visit to Adams Park he has acquired the services of Swansea midfielder Scott Donnelly. He made his debut in their match on Saturday with Crewe which was lost 3-0, ending a run of five straight wins since Torquay won 3-1 at Adams Park in November. A regular goalscorer is their biggest problem, with seven players having scored 3 to 5 goals this term, but Waddock will pin his hopes on a fit again Jon-Paul Pittman to fire his team. The former Nottm Forest trainee scored ten times in their relegated side last term but is still at least two weeks away from a first team return after four months out.

The Bulls return to Adams Park full of goals. Front pair Mathieu Manset and Stuart Fleetwood have scored 20 times in the last 14 games, twelve of them in eight away matches. With eight goals in three games in 2011 the new 5-3-2 formation seems to be working going forward, but six conceded still points to defensive frailties that need to be resolved. It is hoped Rob Purdie may be back in contention after limping out on the half hour during the previous trip to Adams Park, while Ryan Green will miss out after his dismissal on Saturday.

Wycombe Wanderers vs Hereford United, Adams Park, Tuesday 11th January, 7.45pm.
